My week in Instagrams

Well, really this is my last TWO weeks.  We just got back from 2 weeks at my parents place in Northern California.  We had a very busy, but productive time.  It is so beautiful there, and we enjoyed a break from the heat here in Bakersfield.

We were also really blessed to have good friends of ours from Papua New Guinea there.  They now live in Colorado, but they were our neighbors in Lae, Papua New Guinea (where I grew up).  There were lots of laughs and stories shared.  It's so good to reconnect with great people from your past and make them a part of your present.

A couple great hikes in the Redwoods.  Found this leaf sitting perfectly on a fern.

Liv loved riding in the backpack.

Can't get enough of all this green.

Old Town Eureka is such a fun place to wonder around.

Lon's favorite book store, Eureka Books and now mine too.

Had to visit Scoops in Arcata!  (Strawberry Lemonade Sorbet)

And Chocolate Coconut and Coffee ice cream in a freshly made waffle bowl.

Made some Lemon Poppyseed Scones for a morning snack (might need to share that recipe with you).

Bought a huge flat of fresh cherries.

So, I had to make Cherry Almond Jam (one of my faves).  The first time I ever canned all-by-myself, Lon and I picked cherries with baby Denali and I made this recipe.  It's an oldy but a goody.

How cute is my parent's 100 year old Victorian in the Redwoods?

My mom and I hosted a ladies tea.  I made decorations and we baked and made fancy treats all week for it.  These are part of the table centers.  I covered bottles with fabric and made a lot of pompom flowers.

Making pompoms is quite fun.

Here's a sneak peak at the Tea Party, I'm going to have a whole post of the party this week.

One of the super yummy treats I made for the Tea Party were these Pineapple Rosemary Marshmallows.  Yummers!

It wouldn't be Nor Cali without rain.

And the beach is always a treat.

Liv learned to point.  And she points at everything now!
